Goats In The Snow |
Snowmageddon, has been terribly hard on all of us. But life goes on. Everyone still has to eat in the morning so I find myself "swimming" often through lower chest deep snow to make sure everyone has breakfast. It is tough going for all of us. I thought I would share some pictures of the animals here at Wildflower Farm, post Snowmageddon.

Starry trying to get to the fence to say, "hello", through snow deeper than she is tall in spots. |

Annabelle greets my husband after the long snow has ended.

Even the chickens are having a rough go of things. But that is how it is for all of us right now, rough, and cold but we keep a fire going and we continue plugging along because.... We are New Englanders. We don't close up house and go crying in terror from snow, or from anything. We stand our ground and laugh in the face of the snow storms that say "boo!" and we continue on with life as usual.

Snowed In Chickens |
And though today I am swimming in snow up to my chest, the sun is shining with promises of a beautiful New England spring, and so we wait for it patiently.... Hoping it arrives early for once, so that once again we can allow the chickens to roam free and so I can walk the dogs through the woods again, and so the goats can run and play as goats are supposed to it. The seasons will turn and soon enough, the misery of toughing out the third worst snow storm in recorded history will be but a mere memory, and it will be so hot outside we will be missing the out door cold and the cozy of our winter fire places.
